The Twenty Two
Opened in 2022, The Twenty Two combines a boutique 31-key hotel with a public restaurant, bar and a private members’ club under one roof. The look is richly layered - 18th century French inflections, saturated colour, art and a hint of playful hedonism - set within a storied house on the northwest corner of Grosvenor Square. With 25 bedrooms and 6 suites, plus private dining and events, it’s positioned as a westside hideaway “for the creative and the curious.”
Our Key Contributions
We led research and development on an entirely bespoke fine bone china range in collaboration with Sue Pryke and Duchess China 1888. Working closely with The Twenty Two team, we refined silhouettes, weights and glazes to match the restaurant and bar’s service needs, then travelled to Duchess’s Stoke-on-Trent factory to inspect the first run on site. We stayed on the line to check, wrap and pack the order before dispatch, ensuring ever piece left the factory exactly as specified.
Alongside the dinnerware, we designed the property’s signature bone china spirit, cocktail and wine bottles; sand-blasted vessels embossed with the “22” mark, created for the bar and primarily for in-suite cocktails. We also specified Ginori tableware for the restaurant (with select pieces used in the private dining area), pairing the house palette with classic profiles that perform in service.
For cutlery and accents, we paired the steak course with Roland Lannier’s Juniper knife and suggested Florentine Kitchen Knives blue handled steak knife to echo Ginori's cobalt accents. We added in Burleigh's classic blue and white signature plates to spotlight certain dishes and incorporated a small number of Feldspar pieces where their hand-made character adds detail, without crowding the table.
