Feldspar

Jeremy and Cath both led interesting lives when living in London; Jeremy worked for the UN helping create ethical supply chains around the world and Cath was involved in architecture, but when they decided to make the move to Devon they switched their focus to turning their creative itch into something more permanent and well…thank goodness for that!

Starting off, both Jeremy and Cath were heavily inspired by items that their grandparents used on a daily basis, pieces that were fifty to three hundred years old, yet still stood the test of time in terms of both style and robustness. Due to its unmatched strength, the decision to use bone china throughout their work was simply a no-brainer. Just like that, the Feldspar ethos of designing and creating ‘objects for life’ was born; beautiful, functional and elegant pieces, made properly, to last generations to come. As simple as that.

The first piece produced under the Feldspar name was a humble 7oz coffee cup, made from fine bone china with a beautifully wonky profile and a delicately hand painted cobalt blue handle – a nod to traditional blue and white tableware. From there, Feldspar has grown rapidly, with their signature bone china pieces being sold at the V&A Shop less than a year after establishing the studio, and with stockists in the UK now including The Conran Shop, Fortnum & Mason, Soho Farmhouse and plenty more worldwide.

They spend their time tucked away in their beautiful corner of the world, (no, honestly – look at this!) with their two children Milo and Beatrix, and an enormous pointer-cross pup called Bernard (although we’re convinced he’s been fooling us all and is actually a foal dressed in a dog onesie).
