Daniel Wester
Originally from Sweden and now working between London and the forests of rural Scandinavia, Daniel Wester hand-carves sculptural wooden pieces using traditional tools and green wood. Each bowl, spoon or platter is shaped entirely by hand, using axes and knives, in a process that's as much about instinct as it is precision.
What sets Daniel's work apart is the combination of raw material and refined form, everything he makes feels considered and is extremely tactile. The woods he uses ranges from ash to chestnut, to cherry, all the way through to one off pieces carved from dried wood salvaged from swamps, submerged beneath the bog for over 1000 years. We love the explorational side of Daniel’s work and the influence punk has had throughout his pieces.
From functional tableware to full display pieces, every piece carved by Daniel is completely unique and tells a story. We've worked closely with Daniel to bring his pieces into hospitality spaces, such as Ikoyi, Lyla and the Britannic Explorer, to private commissions. Whether it's a carved sharing bowl or a simple serving spoon Daniel's work brings something striking to the table, without shouting for attention.
