The Bird Tsang
The Bird Tsang is a ceramics studio in Amsterdam creating distinctive tableware with a bold palette, founded by Robin de Vogel, Johannes Tsang and Josiah Tsang. With roots in professional kitchens and design training at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, the team develop tailor‑made, durable tableware that amplifies a dish’s story. Forms are refined and modern, built to handle daily service without fuss.
Where many restaurants default to white, The Bird Tsang embraces colour. Their palette ranges from sun-washed pastels to bold primaries; joyful and service-ready. Clean shapes and tough stoneware bodies keep the focus on food while the glaze brings energy, resisting chips and wear.
The entire process is chef-led. Through collaborative prototyping the studio refines silhouette and glaze, then standardises clay and glaze chemistry for consistent reorders and reliable stacking on the pass. The outcome is characterful, durable tableware that endures the demands of hospitality.
